Since first meeting Author Eri Nelson almost a year ago, I have readily devoured everything she has written. You've heard me Gush over the Dearhart Clan Series, now I'm back to enlighten you about The Isabella (Izzy) Tulley & Aiden Black Series Which is shaping up to be a hell of a ride...
From the moment you crack open one of Eri Nelson's books you find you're going to be in for quite the ride. See she comes with a disclaimer for which she is most proud. A warning to the reader that her way of word weaving borders on the strange and peculiar After the first few unorthodox pages the rhythm makes sense. It's like going from Stan Lee to Charlotte Bronte and back again.
Her words envelop you and the next thing you know you are wrapped up in the spirals she sends her characters down.
Little known fact, Destiny Repeats Twice while published after the DHC Series Introductory Novel, The Call From Within, was actually written first.
While the DHC Series has been fast paced, lustful and full of carnage, Destiny Repeats Twice dares to wedge it's self into the world of Ancient Greek Mythology. The Prologue sets us up for a tale steeped in pain, magick, flesh and bone. A priestess murdered, a woman in the pangs of birth torn asunder. A very special baby left defenseless...
Now that I was ready for an old fashioned Fantasy, I am slammed back to the Real world, where the story jumps and I am introduced to Isabella (Izzy) Tulley, a 21st century woman, with an ordinary life and a boring job. She is an Insurance Claims Analyst who is immensely proud of her new running shoes. At least she seems normal, until you turn the page and she turns the corner in her walk...
Boom! Izzy finds herself faced with witnessing a little old lady getting mugged. Against her better judgement, "Holy crap, why was she tiptoeing down the alley?" Izzy steps in, and weighs her options with wit and poise. Sneak attack? (she takes kickboxing), Flash him? (It's apparently been awhile since the girls saw any action.) The mugger spots her and*poof* off he goes into the air and he's out for the count.
WTF? Something fishy is going on....
Crash! Aiden Black, distracted by seeing Izzy's great feat, smashes his Black Mercedes into a Blue Sedan... Aiden is rich, privileged and would be majorly sexy if it were not for the fact that he is also excessively arrogant. But let's face it, I like him. He calls it like he sees it, and while it grates on the nerves of those around him, it's still refreshing in a way that is too often dismissed. But he is still a pompous ass, unwilling to sit on hold he marches his sexy ass down to the insurance company, to harass them in person.
Shit....
Fate has a way of twisting it's self up into well put knots. Izzy and Aiden meet in the hallway of the Insurance agency, which employs her, and carries his accident claim. At once the sparks fly! Izzy is rendered to goo as his presence makes her toes curl, and Aiden feels as though he has been enchanted. The scene is so tense you'd need a chainsaw to cut through it. (Hail to th eking Baby!) If it had not been for Meg, Izzy's dear friend and thorn in Aiden's side, these two may have just gone at it on the floor!
The cock block succeeds, and Meg pulls Izzy away from Aiden, but not for long...
Aiden invades Izzy's Kickboxing class and the two go toe to toe in a heated struggle for power, where each tries to gain control. Aiden draws first blood, and Izzy hands him his ass on a platter with an uppercut that turns out the lights on Mr Black.
Power? People flying?? Hmm and only page 45...
I'm Hooked! But it get better...
Frightened by the unexplained events which have left several men unconscious, Izzy begins to believe that she may have some sort of inner power. Next thing you know the contents of her living room are orbiting her head as though she were the sun.
The Shit is about to hit the proverbial fan.
Much like anything else her power comes with a price, it acts as a beacon and allows the dark entity to hone in on her location. Now Izzy is on the run, and Aiden is along for the ride of his life as they fall through time and space, trying to escape the evil on Izzy's heels. Albeit he's kicking and screaming the whole way. And let's not forget to mention the complaining... He's so pampered!! But I love it.
I'm not giving you any more, Check out Destiny Repeats Twice for yourself, and become embroiled in a world of Gods, Goddesses and the pains they will inflict to save them selves.
Be sure to keep your eyes open as The Scent Of Power, the second in the series is set to launch sometime this Fall/ Winter! I know I can't wait!!
