The 131 Preview Review Presents
Rod Stick—though his birth certificate says Rodney Moore— has everything a top-notch porn star ever wanted. Friends are his new family, money satisfies his every wish, and endless lines of willing and ready women fulfill any voids his jaded childhood left behind. Drugs and alcohol patch the remaining leaks those things can’t fix.
However, things are beginning to change. His friends and their bachelor lifestyle are fading in the hot L.A. sun. Irresponsible decisions and self-destructive actions have his career on the rocks. Like his best friend, Tony, he worries he’s going to be the next “has-been.” To complicate things further, a certain sexy and dangerous amber-haired stripper is changing him into another person—one that he isn't sure he can handle. They say you can’t make a “ho into a housewife.” But two hoes? There are better odds in Vegas.
Can Rod find the solace he’s searching for in his own private dancer, Crystal Amber? Settling down with her might close the door on that dark chapter of his life forever—the one he’s been running from since he was a kid. Or, will he lose himself and everyone else around him instead creating his own version of hell?
Sometimes our own light is hiding in dark places. Will Rod find his?
Time to see where the light shines....
When I first sat down to read this one I figured it would be light and fun like
Ting Tang Tony, boy was I in for a turn of the snake. Rod is a deeply flawed character. We got a taste of him and his rowdy ways in the fist in the "Has been series" as the oldest of the group of friends with the hardest parting behavior. He nearly killed Tony's shot at love by pushing the mark one too many times.
But there was something about this silver fox that made me wanna know more about him, which brought me to picking up Stick Me Baby, in this one we are shown just how dark in addiction Rod is spiraling. For anyone who has or has known someone with addictions it's certainly something to connect with. It's sometimes uncomfortable, and heart wrenching.
Rod is just into his forties, and the party has yet to stop, his muse Crystal Amber is a Stripper and his enabler in all things sex and drugs. But even Rod realizes that the party needs to be wrangled in, especially when the Stick can't perform for the cameras in Vegas. He decides it time to clean it up, and slip into his newest addiction, his beautiful twenty-something woman.
He begins to imagine a future with her, trying to clear both of their pasts with his need for her, but nothing is what it seems for him, and soon he finds things more out of control than before...
Rods tale is gritty, fast and cloaked in a haze of coke and booze and whatever else he can get his hands on. Where this would turn most people off, for me there is something about him that brings out the white knight in me. I found myself rooting for him at every turn, hoping that he would best his demons and find what he's been searching for at the bottom of all those bottles. IT's heart wrenching and yet there's hope for him. His friends really are his saving graces, never leaving him even when the pastel suits come out. And the end is something you need your tissues for....
Overall a really tumultuous read. This series has so much potential and is pushing the envelope at many turns. Pick it up, and you won't be putting it down anytime soon.

Kristin is the wearer of many hats--not literally--although she does look good in one. From being a full-time mom, wife, chef, maid, dog walker, litter box scooper to owning a photography business and working as a freelance editor ... She now adds writer to her long resume. Between juggling all these tasks she squeezes in as much time as possible for snuggling her babies, reading, and watching football on Sundays in the fall. Da Bears! Hailing from the Midwest her whole life, she fully appreciates the change of seasons but admits to really only enjoying it less than 5 months of the year.
Kristin is very thankful to have found another half of her brain in her dear friend Kat. Who, might be thousands of miles away, is never farther than a text or a phone call. Together they make up the dynamic duo writing and producing the hilariously romantic and sexy "Has-Been Series".
Kristin and Kat would like to thank everyone for purchasing their books and taking the time to read them. They hope you enjoy them and the characters as much as they do. *tips wine glasses in salute* Cheers!
